The interim Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan was given a standing ovation by delegates at the Garda (AGSI) conference in Killarney yesterday. Some commentators see the Deputy Commissioner as the leader in waiting and possible successor to Martin Callinan. She took the opportunity to reassure members of the force and said that Garda Sergeants and Inspectors must have the courage to challenge how the organisation goes about its business as a police force. The Government may be somewhat relieved this morning that the weekend newspapers didn’t have any new startling revelations on the ongoing Garda controversy. But the week ahead could prove more tricky – Alan Shatter faces a no confidence vote in the Dail and the opposition is intent on asking more questions on who knew what and when in relation to the taped phone calls at some Garda stations around the country. Pat Leahy Political Editor of The Sunday Business Post spoke to Sean this morning.http://www.rte.ie/radio1/today-with-sean-o-rourke/programmes/2014/0331/605622-today-with-sean-o-rourke-monday-31-march-2014/?clipid=1521965

Sean spoke with Irish Times Political Correspondent, Stephen Collins.http://www.rte.ie/radio1/today-with-sean-o-rourke/programmes/2014/0227/506910-today-with-sean-o-rourke-thursday-27-february-2014/?clipid=1427384
“There was no evidence of Garda misconduct” - seven words in a statement from the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission -- G-SOC – that have ratcheted up tension between the commission and the Gardai. Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan is seeking clarification from G-SOC and to explain “the basis for the suspicion of Garda misconduct”. The Commission said it discovered three identified threats after its headquarters was swept for bugs last year but didn't report the matter to the Minister for Justice because it said it did not wish to point fingers unnecessarily. Joining Sean was security expert Dr.Tom Clonan and former ...http://www.rte.ie/radio1/today-with-sean-o-rourke/programmes/2014/0211/503607-today-with-sean-o-rourke-tuesday-11-february-2014/?clipid=1415211
The Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan appeared yesterday at the Public Accounts Committee to answer questions surrounding allegations by two whistle blowers retired Garda John Wilson and Sargeant Maurice McCabe around the alleged wiping of penalty points by 200 senior members of the force. The Garda Commissioner speaking at the Public Accounts Committee said that he found the allegations “quite disgusting”. Sergeant Maurice McCabe has been invited to give evidence to the committee next Thursday and Garda John Wilson has indicated he also wants to appear. However the Garda Commissioner has indicated that he may try to block such an appearance. ...http://www.rte.ie/radio1/today-with-sean-o-rourke/programmes/2014/0124/499868-today-with-sean-o-rourke-friday-24-january-2014/?clipid=1401716
