Gardaí are investigating if a man shot dead at the weekend was targeted in a revenge attack for the attempted murder of another criminal last year. Michael O’Toole Crime Correspondent of the Irish Daily Star spoke to Sean this morning.
According to the Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan there are now 25 organised crime gangs operating in Ireland. Experienced gardai say the major Irish gangs whose main business is the supply of drugs are multi-national operations. However on the ground these gangs run their operations through intimidation, threat and violence. Can anything be done to dismantle these gangs either through policing, detention or community development or is it too late and were opportunities missed in the past.
