Although the recent good spell of weather is welcome to most, it has caused another crisis in the farming community as drought has caused some farmers to use their winter fodder supply, Andy Doyle, tillage correspondent of the Irish Farmers Journal and Doctor Siobhan Kavanagh who is a fodder management expert with Teagasc.
Well the weather for the past week has been a scorcher and as we've said this hot spell is great news for farmers who absolutely cannot rest while the sun is out, Marty was joined by Wexford Farmer Michael Doran and live from the fields of Roscommon by Laurence Fallon.
The big winners this week were the two million European farmers who are under the age of forty. That’s because a measure has been agreed to give young farmers a top up of twenty five per cent on their single farm payment for the first five years of getting into farming.
