It seems that talks between unions and government representatives on a new national pay deal will intensify in the coming days. With a deadline the Croke Park extension looming next week both sides are negotiating on the details of plans that could see pay cuts and longer working hours. Frontline workers such as fire and ambulance crews have objected at planned cuts in premium pay rates. Gardai are starting their protest action tomorrow.
