Cities Against Poverty
As a self professed agnostic and single mother of three, Michele Bachelet didn’t fit the mould of traditional politician in a socially conservative country like Chile. However, she still managed to work her way up to the top job becoming the country’s first female president in 2006 – a position she held until 2010. Currently she is executive director of the United Nations Division for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, known simply as UN Women. She’s in Ireland this week to attend the Cities Against Poverty forum which runs at the RDS in Dublin.
