Abortion and Legislation - where the Politicians stand on legislating for abortion in the wake of the Galway tragedy.

Abortion and Legislation - where the Politicians stand on legislating for abortion in the wake of the Galway tragedy.

So has government inactivity on the issue of abortion created the medical ‘grey area’ that appears to exist in situations like the tragic death of Savita Halappanavar? In this morning’s Irish Independent, coloumnist, John Downing identifies the sheer lack of a political stance on abortion as the problem that has beset the issue for generations. Pat was joined by John Downing of the Irish Independent; Labour Senator Ivana Bacik; Billy Kelleher, Fianna Fail TD; Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, Sinn Fein TD and Michelle Mulkerrin of Fine Gael.

The Children's Referendum Result and Turnout.

The Children's Referendum Result and Turnout.

According to Fine Gael senator, Colm Burke 90% of our income tax goes on health services. ...

Protection of Life in Pregnancy Bill

Protection of Life in Pregnancy Bill

The Government last night agreed the wording for proposed abortion legislation to give effect to the X-Case ruling. The name of the legislation was changed from the previously titled Protection of Maternal Life Bill to the Bill for the Protection of Life During Pregnancy. But will this new Bill assuage the Fine Gael Back benchers who are against legislating in the case of suicide or the TD’s who want more liberal laws in relation to abortion? Pat first spoke to the Minister for Health James Reilly and he then spoke to Fine Gael’s Fidelma Healy Eames by Sinn Fein Health ...
