    Yesterday at the High Court lawyers for former Rehab Chief Executive Angela Kerins claimed members of the Dail’s Public Accounts Committee had engaged in a “witch hunt” when she appeared before the committee last February.  They also claimed that she lost her job and suffered illness as a result.   Ms Kerins has filed a court action for arising from the committee’s investigation into the disability group. Earlier on Morning Ireland the Public Accounts Committee chairman John McGuinness said the PAC will be robustly defending its position in the courts. Joining Sean was Tom Lyons of the Irish Times.

    It has been confirmed this morning that Angela Kerins, the Chief Executive of the Rehab group is to retire. The move comes after a difficult period for the group with Ms Kerins and her predecessor Frank Flannery both at the centre of controversies around executive pay levels and consultancy fees at the charity.  Joining Sean was Mary Lou McDonald, deputy leader of Sinn Fein and member of the Public Accounts Committee.

    After weeks of controversy, Rehab’s Board has revealed, the remuneration package of its chief executive Angela Kerins. Ms Kerins salary is €240,000, with an employer contribution of €14,400 into her defined contribution pension and company car benefits to the tune of some €18,000. Rehab has said it would disclose the ‘total remuneration’ of other top managers in its 2015 accounts which will not be published until 2016. Stephen Kinsella senior lecturer in economics at the University of Limerick says public confidence in charities has collapsed.
