    Alcohol Action Ireland will hold their annual conference, ‘The Fear’: Alcohol and Mental Health in Ireland’ today. It will hear fromexpert speakers discuss how alcohol is impacting on mental health in Ireland. A recent study of suicide in Ireland found that half of those who took their own lives had abused alcohol in the previous 12 months. Alcohol-related disorders accounted for 1 in 10 first admissions to Irish psychiatric hospitals in 2011. Joining Sean were two people who will be speaking at the conference.     The Government is planning to put an end to low-cost alcoholic drink being available in supermarkets and off-licences. Minister of State for Health Alex White has said legislation will come into effect next year to ban cheap alcohol off-sales. So how cheap is alcohol now in shops? And for people who currently choose to buy their drink in the supermarket, what effect will a price increase have on them? Will they drink less or spend more? Paddy O'Gorman has been meeting shoppers buying alcoholic drink.

    Tricia in Germany and Gertrude discuss the continuing fallout from the Anglo tapes. Damien was shocked by the levels of underage drinking he witnessed in Temple Bar last Saturday. Josephine's son has wanted to be a doctor since he was 6-years-old.  He did his Leaving Cert and HPAT exam this year.  While he's expected to do very well in his Leaving Cert he's already received his HPAT results and got nowhere near what he needs.  He won't get into medicine.
