Series will be repeated starting Monday 3rd September 2007 at 10.30pm.

Dr Garret Fitzgerald and Máire Mhac an tSaoi are from two of the country's leading political families. They were born to parents who fought together in 1916 and the War of Independence, took opposing sides in the Civil War and spent the rest of their lives as political opponents. Yet the Fitzgeralds and McEntees remained friends and their children grew up with unique perspectives on politics and family life in the newly independent state.

In this four part series, they share their memories and opinions on Irish political life in 20th century Ireland with John Bowman.
