PJ O'Connor Awards: Winners 2010

For the first time RTÉ Radio Drama invited candidates for this year's competition to submit radio plays of 55 minutes in duration. 135 entries in all were received with 17 entries making it to the short list. (listed below)

The winners were announced on RTÉ Radio 1's daily arts show, ARENA on Friday, 4th June.

PJ O'CONNOR AWARDS FOR RADIO DRAMA 2010

1. "GRENADES" by Tara McKevitt - Winner (€3000)

2. "THE QUIET WILLOUGHBYS" by Neil Flynn - Runner up (€2000)

3. "THE EULOGY OF HARRY BROGAN" by Alan Archbold
Second runner up (€1000)

The team at RTÉ Radio Drama wish to express their sincere gratitude to all participants and to this year's judging panel - Annie Ryan, Artistic Director of Corn Exchange Theatre Company, Aideen Howard, Literary Director at the Abbey Theatre and Dramaturg, Jesper Bergmann of the Royal Theatre, Denmark.

The winning plays will be broadcast through the month of July 2010 on Sunday Playhouse (RTÉ Radio 1, Sundays 8pm)
