Joe Jackson's Essential Music Collection

This summer Joe Jackson will present a music series on RTÉ Radio 1. In 1999 Joe wrote and presented the critically acclaimed series People Get Ready in which, over a period of one year, he looked at the music life and times of the 52 most important recording artists of the 20th century. In this new series Joe Jackson' s Essential Music Collection he takes that concept one step further.

While many radio and television series have explored seminal albums in the history of pop they usually choose only one recording from any particular artist's career, whereas in this series Joe will choose 10 or 12 albums and revisit one album per week, tracing its genesis and setting the songs in the context of the artist's life and times. He will also play outtakes, so listeners can gain an insight into the creative process which, hopefully, will deepen their appreciation of what in the end will amount to a collection of CDs every music lover should own.
