Ronnie Drew - Crane
If you are travelling in or out of Dublin Port, you may notice a most unusual crane.
It’s a Liebherr Harbor Mobile Crane and can lift 84 tons at a time, but on its ballast is a portrait of the great Ronnie Drew.
In 2009, a year after Ronnie died, Dublin Stevedores, a family business with roots in Dublin port going back over 200 years, redesigned the crane in memory of the iconic folk singer.
John Nolan, owner of the company wanted to pay tribute to Ronnie, so it was his idea to commission a portrait and put it on the crane.
