Hornøya's Seabird Colony

From June 10th to July 12th, you can follow a live show from a bird cliff on an island called Hornøya, in the distant north-east of Norway.  About 100,000 sea birds are nesting in the steep mountainside at Hornøya, near Vardø in Finnmark.

Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh discovers the busiest department in St James's Hospital: a unit dealing exclusively with falls and blackouts. We find out about a fascinating new app that allows you to scan a barcode on a headstone to discover all about the individual lying below your feet. And George Hamilton, on things you didn't know about George Hamilton! Multi-linguist, former BBC commentator and orchestral principal cellist! He joins Derek in studio this afternoon...

George Hamilton

It all seems so long ago now, doesn't it? Spain and England went home early, Brazil suffered their worst ever defeat, but the performances of some of the lesser-celebrated footballing nations delighted all fans of the beautiful game this summer.

George Hamilton

George covers many sporting events for RTÉ, including football and rugby and he can also be heard every Saturday morning on our sister channel, RTÉ Lyric fm, where he presents The Hamilton Scores (www.rte.ie/lyricfm/the-hamilton-scores).

He joins us in studio to chat about life, work, and his memories of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
