Living with Lynch, Again

In September 1954, Radio Éireann commissioned a series of comedy programmes featuring Joe Lynch, actor in both the Radio Éireann Players and the Abbey Theatre, variety artist and singer.

The programmes, written by Dermot Doolan and Michael McGarry, were built around Joe Lynch and featured Charlie Byrne, Pamela Duncan and Ronnie Walsh who also produced the show. With their catch-phrases ("What about the workin' man?" and "'Ya heard it before, Joe'") they owed more to American Radio and the BBC's 'The Goon Show' than previous attempts at Irish comedy.

The last remaining member of the team, Dermot Doolan, joins Brendan Balfe to recall the making of what became Ireland's most popular comedy show in Living with Lynch, Again.
