Discussion and debate with Joe Duffy

Totoday's Liveline, we spoke to David who was travelling through Heathrow after watching the rugby at Twickenham. The Aer Lingus staff memeber asked him if they had 'left the bombs at home'. David felt this was inappropriate and compaliend to Aer Lingus. Earlier today, jockey Ruby Walsh expressed a certain pragmatism after a horse had been put down after the first day at Cheltenham. He said that horses have no families. We spoke to John Carmody on the programme who said that if we stop being cruel to animals, it may end harm to humans. Others called in supporting John and others with the opposite point of view.

Tom Curran called. He is the partner of Marie Fleming, who died last year. He cared for her for 15 years and would like to begin a training programme for other ex-carers who, with all their experience, could support the palliative care system.

We spoke to Pat whose house was fire bombed last year. He is still waiting for the insurance to be sorted out. Since the fire, he and his wife have been living in a hotel.
