Fiona’s 6 week old son was killed in a tragic accident at the Killiney roundabout 12 years ago. They erected a plaque which somebody has now removed. It was found in a skip. She was on to the council who told her there had been no complaints about the plaque. She is very upset and would like to put the plaque back up.
Sarah’s son was admitted to hospital for five days before Christmas with respiratory problems. She received a bill after Christmas for €375 – the bill said they had to pay within 15 days. They don’t have a medical card….but can’t afford the bill wonders what she can do. We pay a health levy and PRSI but there still is an inpatient charge per day.
The Department of Health guidelines says there is a statutory inpatient charge of €75 euro per day up to a maximum €750 (i.e. 10 days) in any consecutive 12 months. They say the economic cost of an in-patient bed is about €1,100 per day, so the taxpayers’ subvention is quite considerable.
Sean thought the Presidential Christmas and New Year Message 2013 should have had a stronger Christian message. I am a Catholic, I am proud of it. When he sends his Christmas cards he makes sure to get religious ones, the essential Christian message. He believes the Christian message is being eroded.
