Martin Quinn received a letter from a debt collection company this morning about an unpaid bill for bin collection. He is 75 and always pays his bills by direct debit. He told us the letter was intimidating.
Seamus and Jim were two callers – both from Connemara. They had followed the story from yesterday when we spoke about a bridge in Seanafeistin. There is now a weight restriction on the bridge which is making it difficult for local residents. We discussed the fact that 80% of Connemara is a special area of conservation which makes planning difficult.
Mary called from Killarney. Her son had his bag stolen from the hold on a Bus Eireann coach from Limerick to Cork. You are not allowed to have your bag with you on the bus but no one will take responsibility for it when it is in the hold.
We ended the programme with a chef who told us the best way of eating pigeon is with black pudding, bacon and little bit of balsamic dressing.
