Ken Duffy is upset that Fingal County Council are in the process of felling over 1000 mature healthy trees that stand within 5 meters distance of a lamp post. He says the first residents knew of any tree felling was when they got home from work to find the trees gone. Fingal County Council say their street trees are maintained and managed according to the objectives laid out in their policy ‘The forest of Fingal – a tree strategy for Fingal’. It is the objective of the tree strategy that at least one tree will be planted locally for each tree removed. There are safety issues with regard to light.

Mike was listening to the show yesterday. He too attends the Weight management clinic in Loughlinstown Hospital. In 2011 he weighed over 30 stone. He had an operation to have a gastric sleeve fitted and he has never looked back. He has lost 10 stone over 2 years. He is now training 5 to 6 times a week. It’s not a quick fix, but it certainly helped him. He still has to eat healthily and exercise regularly. The government need to fund more of these operations. Since his operation he has reversed his type 2 diabetes, he is off all his medication.

The HSE in a statement say they offer a full service for morbidly obesein Loughlinstown/St. Cincents with full multi disciplinary team.    There is also a similar service in Galway \university Hospital with a limited service in Coinnolly/Beaumont hospitla.   The HSE is planning to expand these services further a sper national population and best practice guidelines.
