Liveline - Art Auction for Alexandra Trotsenko

The very sucessful ART FOR ALEXANDRA auction took place on Sunday 27 November in Adam’s Auctioneers & Valuers in Blackrock, Co Dublin. There was a huge turn out and many of the works on offer were sold for well above their reserve.

When Liveline spoke to artist Alexandra Trotsenko about the horrific attack that resulted in the partial loss of her hand, the listener response was immense. Callers immediately began to suggest ways in which they might assist Alexandra in securing a prosthesis, vital if she was to resume her artistic career.

Within days, many of Alexandra’s fellow artists had come together to donate their work to the special auction, due to take place in Adam’s Auctioneers & Valuers in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Artists including Jane O’Malley, Trevor Geoghegan, Robert Ballagh, Maria Levinge, John Dinan, Cathy Callan, Aoife Hand, Thelma Mansfield, Yoko Akino, Geraldine O’Reilly, Peter Pearson, and Joe himself, pledged contributions to the auction.

Alexandra Trotsenko said: “I am very touched by the Irish public’s kindness and the incredible generosity of the Irish artists. I can’t wait to have my hand back, I have so much I want to do. I’d like to say a special Thank you to all the Liveline team, the listeners and the organisers behind the auction.”
