You Can't Shove Your Granny Off A Bus

A four-part documentary on grandparents and grandchildren.

Away from the stereotype, this generation of grandparents is like none that has gone before.  They may still be part of the workforce, they may still be rearing their own children, and they may be in second or third relationships. They may even still be responsible for their own elderly parents, or they could be cut off from their grandchildren due to relationship breakdown.

In this new series, we ask children about their grandparents, and grandparents about their grandchildren, and examine how the reality is different from the perception.

The songs, the stories, the fun, the spoiling, and all the joy of the experience will be reflected and celebrated.

Nuala Hayes has travelled from Killarney to Belfast and in between, to record the experiences of people from 3 months to 83 years of age.

Included in the programmes are artist and singer Ronnie Moore from Killarney, with her grandson, Glen Sweeny Moore; Owen Roe and his daughter Megan; Liz Gough from Belfast talking about her Granny Lily and Brendan Conroy and his two grandchildren.

Programme One will focus on grandchildren of all ages speaking about their grandparents.

Produced and directed by Nuala Hayes of the Two Chairs Company
