John Lennon Northern Lights Festival

Well the nights might be drawing in but the festivals continue apace. Durness is not the first name that comes to mind when you think of Music Festivals but this village at the northern tip of Scotland will play host from the 28th to the 30th of September to the John Lennon Northern Lights Festival.

Power Dressing

Take a good look at yourself in that mirror..
What message are you sending out?
Are you dressed for success?
Are you a member of the t-shirt brigade? Or the ultimate power dresser.
Well the original power dressing accessory has always been shoulder pads and even though we thought they'd been confined to the depths of wardrobe malfunctions..... they're back....

House Sharing ~ Heaven or Hell?

Everyone has a horror story about it..... Maybe you can laugh about it now, or is it still far too chilling?  We're talking about the moment when someone you thought was a harmless housemate turns into a raging psychopath.
One minute you're sharing a cleaning rota, blissfully bleaching the toilet, happily doing the weekly shop together, busily budgeting meals.  The next you can't stand the sight of them, you can't stand the smell of them, you can't even stand the sound of them.

Turning Japanese

It's a destination of mystery and its 400 islands are shrouded in history, add to this a culture that few westerns can understand but yet are captivated by and you have a pretty unique place.

Virtual Worlds

Each week more than 35 million people around the globe abandon reality for virtual realms. They leave behind the real world and it's the daily grind, tax, insurance and debt and enter Virtual worlds with adventure and risk-free fun and frolics.

Marlon Brando

He was the ultimate sex symbol.
No not Elvis Presley, but man who inspired Elvis' role in the film Jailhouse Rock.
So who is this guy, idolised not only by Elvis but also by James Dean?
Smouldering, sizzling, steaming up the screen - he did it before anyone else even tried.  Muscles rippling from ripped T-Shirts, the leather clad bad-boy, astride his legendary motorcyle.
He also happens to be one of the greatest screen actors of all time, whose work spanned over half a century.  From "A Streetcar Name Desire", to "The Godfather" .
He is Marlon Brando.

Raindrops Just Keep on Falling

We've had 40 to 45 days of it and it doesn't look like it's going to come to an end anytime soon..
So obviously, the burning question in everybody's mind is. what does one wear in the rain?

Music City ~ Liverpool

It's the most Irish of British cities, that never needs an excuse to celebrate, never more than this year, its 800th anniversary. We're talking about a place of pilgrimage for thousands of football fans, never mind the tourists who make their way to Penny Lane! Its Liverpool of course, and continuing our series of music cities, we'll be checking out bands from Atomic Kitten to The Zutons and not forgetting The Beatles.

Stars, Stars, Stars

Dave Fanning scales the dizzy heights of fame, in a week of specials, with celeb interviews to beat the band.
From Kylie to Ron Sexsmith and Angelina Jolie to Peter Frampton. Dave hosts a week of star studded interviews...

Men and their Sheds

Have you ever felt like you've just got to get away from the world. You know that feeling of, I just want to get some space.

Well some of us go to the pub, others go mad playing sport. But there's a lot of you out there that just love to go to your shed - a haven for the lads to hunker down and gain some peace from the world.

The Simpsons

Every now and then something comes along that's right on the button and this show has been doing it for over 18 years, having just shown its 400th episode in the States, this vicious, satirical, but above all funny comedy, enjoys fans of all ages and can't seem to do any wrong.
Simply put, The Simpsons have taken over the world and paved the way for a whole raft of animated shows.

Phil Spector Trial

The road to celebrity trials is paved with odd behaviour and at the centre of the latest celebrity court case is the boy wonder of 60's pop, legendary record producer Phil Spector. He was the man who lovingly crafted timeless classics like River Deep, Mountain High, You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', and The Long And Winding Road. But he had his little ways, as ex-wife Ronnie Spector, Leonard Cohen, The Ramones and more, explain to Dave Fanning......

Teenagers ~ Where Did They Come From?

Ever wish you were young again? Wistful for the days when everything was still ahead of you? Did opportunities pass you by?  Maybe you agree with Oscar Wilde that youth is wasted on the young.
It's often been said that there was no sex in Ireland before television. Something that's also been said is that teenagers didn't exist before the 1950's.
That's right. Not a teenager in sight. Adults? Yes. Children. Yes?  Teenagers, not a one, not before the 1950's....

Onscreen Chemistry ~ Who Has the Right Formula?

Movies... it's all about the magic, the chemistry between two characters can make or break a film, as Gigilo proved, but Bennifer aside, which couples sizzle on screen and which pairs just hit a bum note.
Of course top of the list are Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, the original King and Queen of onscreen chemistry.

Film Posters

When was the last time you saw one and thought.. 'Wow.. I've got to get me one of those... Or are you one of those
'late at night people' who feel the need to peel them off the wall on the way home from a night out....

Well whichever category you fall into, you're obviously a film poster fan. So does a good poster make a good movie or are they mutually exclusive? We asked the experts to take a look at some of the classics and tell us why the Jaws poster will live forever and even though Attack of the 50 Foot Woman didn't go down in cinematic history, the poster certainly did.

Tears Before Bedtime

Sometimes you just need to let it out....................
And it's not just for the softies.. as our Rugby players proved, big boys really do cry....

So what exactly gets your tear ducts weeping? Is it movies, books, music or sport...

Journalist Pat Coyle and RTÉ Broadcaster Michael Lyster joined Dave in studio to discover just why Bambi leaves us in floods of tears and why ET can bring a tear to the eye of even the hardest people and Kate Wighton of The Times explained why the Japanese have dedicated special rooms to crying.

This special with Dave let's you blubber, sniffle and let your bottom lip tremble so get your tissues ready.
