Sinking of Asgard

The incredible minute-by-minute story of the sinking of a tall ship.

On Sept. 11, 2008, the brigantine, "Asgard II" sank in the Bay of Biscay.

The ship, operated by the Irish Department of Defence and Sail Training Ireland, had introduced 25,000 people in the basics of sailing.

Student radio producer, Stephen Long of DCU, himself a former trainee, tells the story of that night through eyewitness interviews. This extract features Geraldine O'Brien and Oisín Cahill.
