A radio documentary about two Irish Elvis fans who realise a lifelong ambition to visit Graceland (First broadcast 1998) ...

Follow that dream

This documentary traces the trail of an Irish couple making the pilgrimage to Elvis Presley's home in Graceland.

Outside Graceland on the 20th anniversary of his death, there were 40,000 people present. The average age of the crowd was around 25. However, an older couple Maurice and his wife Maureen were also there. They were winners of a Gay Byrne show competition.

Maureen, the wife had received a letter from Elvis in 1960, just after his mother had died. Elvis wrote a second letter, this time to the husband, telling him to look after and take care of his wife.

The couple visit Sun Studios, where Elvis recorded his earlier work with Sam Phillips, and also meet up with other Irish fans.
