Documentary Maker: Derek O'Halloran

Derek O' Halloran is an independent radio producer and community media facilitator who specialises in working with youth and community groups on a range of media initiatives.

Projects he's led include a six-part, music magazine, TV series made in collaboration with a group of young people from Bradóg Regional Youth Service and broadcast on DCTV.

Derek has produced several radio documentaries with young people, one of which, "Check Yerself B4 Ya Wreck Yerself", won Silver at the 2012 PPI Radio Awards in the Documentary category.

His work has been broadcast on Newstalk's "Different Voices" series and "The Curious Ear" on RTE Radio 1.

Lately, Derek has focussed on grassroots oral history production, recently facilitating a project across multiple communities in Kilkenny City.
