Banna Polar Bears

In February 2013, in the depths of Winter, reporter Denise Woods came across a group of older men undressing by the beach at Banna Strand in Kerry.

They were there for a swim.

The first thing that occurred to her was, 'are they mad?!'

The second thing that occurred to her was to join them.

So, she did just that, got her audio recorder and hopped into the freezing surf with them.

They're the Banna Polar Bears.

It's a sort of a club where the only rule is that you swim every month of the year.
