In the days following 9/11, one of the iconic photos to emerge was of a man’s body being carried from the North Tower of the World Trade Centre.
Identified as Father Mychal Judge, the 68 year old chaplain to the Fire Department, he was registered as the first official victim of 9/11.
However in the weeks that followed, the full story emerged of the man as all New York sought to claim his heroic legacy. The Irish-American community, the fire department, the Catholic Church, and the city’s gay community.
This is the story of this turbulent priest as told by those who knew him well.
Narrated and produced by Yvonne Judge.
Production Supervision by Ciaran Cassidy.
