Consumed
A four part series which examines what we cannot see in everyday products that we all consume.
Consumed asks if our health, food and beauty products really are safe?
From Thursday, 16 March, Consumed, a four part series on RTÉ Radio 1 presented and produced by Tommy Standún, will examine what we cannot see in the everyday products we all consume.
It has been said that 'we are what we eat'. We have convinced ourselves that foods and other commodities marketed with words such as green, natural, herbal or organic are a healthier alternative yet we fail to accept that the vast bulk of these products contribute to global pollution as they are imported into Ireland and travel thousands of air miles from far away countries.
Tommy Standún says, "The resulting carbon and other harmful emissions this creates have long been discussed, but let's face it, while we are hung-up on where our food comes from we rarely question the array of chemicals we consume on a daily basis.
Over the next four weeks as a consumer I will attempt to trace what, goes into some of the products we ingest day to day and uncover whether these products really are safe and healthy"
