Conspiracy: Irish Political Trials Under the Union
Visit the gallery for images of the launch of the RTÉ Radio Series and Royal Irish Academy book.
A four-part series which looks at some of the most controversial and significant political trials conducted under British rule between the Act of Union in 1801 and Irish Independence in 1922.
Myles Dungan leads a number of noted historians through the trials of Robert Emmet (1803) and Daniel O'Connell (1844) as well as the 'Times' Commission in 1889 and the courts martial after the Easter Rising of 1916. The question asked in all of these cases is - was justice done and seen to be done?'
The programmes are presented by Myles Dungan and produced by Peter Mooney.
