Ceili House travels to Rackards in the Co. Wexford town of Enniscorthy for tonight's programme with music and song in abundance from local and visiting musicians and singers.

Tonight sees the return of the ever popular Ceili House -The Archives. We start off with the Green Linnet Ceili Band who provide the signature tune for the series. Band founder John McNamara from Drimnagh, Dublin tells us about the origins of the band. We also hear a 1972 interview with piper Willie Clancy and Tim Lyons sings about an early experience at the Willie Clancy Summer School.

On Ceili House the Archives, tonight, a tribute to the late Sliabh Luachra accordeon player, Johnny O'Leary who died earlier this year. Johnny was ever present at the Willie Clancy Summer School in Miltown Malbay Co. Clare. In July 2001 Peter Browne hosted a tribute concert, in Miltown where many of Johnny O'Leary's mucical and dancing friends performed. Music and song from Matt Cranitch, The Four Star Trio, Jimmy O'Brien and many more including a few words from long time friend Dan O'Connell.

Ceili House The Archives featuring a very young Mary Black before she became an international star. Paul Brock and Manus Maguire in Concert at the James Morrison week-end in Riverstown, Co. Sligo. Also from the same concert Seamus Tansey plays flute and talks about the Gardiner Family.

Earlier this year Dublin records released, on CD, for the first time some famous recordings, from the 1950's, of the Tulla Ceili Band . the Kilfenora Ceili Band, Paddy Canny, PJ Hayes, Peter O'Loughlin and Bridie Lafferty. On tonight's programme we hear these recordings and music and song from Seamus Ennis in 1940, and from the 1930's, the music of Sligo fiddle masters Paddy Killoran and James Morrison.

Tonights Ceili House has uncovered some tremendous recordings of three of the Great Clare fiddlers from the 1950's - Paddy Canny, 1960's - Junior Crehan and the 1970's - Bobby Casey. There's also a session from Corofin with Frank Custy and friends, recorded in 1967 and a song from Micho Russell.

On tonight's programme weve music from Co. Kilkenny with the Graignamanagh Ceili Band. Band member Peter O'Leary talks about the music and the history and the tradition in Co. Kilkenny in the 1950's and 60's. There's a couple of selections from the Lough Gowna Ceili Band from 1963 and more....

Earlier this year Aras an Uachtaran was the venue for a unique event. President McAleese and her husband Martin hosted a reception for Irish traditional musicians, singers and dancers, in recognition of their contribution to the preservation and promotion of the music and song.
Kieran meets some of the guests and the memories come flooding back. Among those present is Paddy O'Donoghue of the Tulla Ceili Band, Mairead NI Mhaonaigh of Altan and her dad, Francie, John Regan and Jimmy McGreevy and many more..

Ceili House is back on the road at the Fleadh in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. The programme comes Live from the streets of Clonmel with The Paddy O'Brien Memorial Ceili Band and many of the young all Ireland Champions of 2004.

Tonight's Ceili House is the first of two featuring the All Ireland Senior Ceili Band competition from the Fleadh in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.The competing bands are from Ulster, Munster, Leinster, Connaught, Britain and the USA.

The second and last night from the All Ireland Senior Ceili Band competition, recorded at the All Ireland Fleadh in Clonmel. The Ennis Ceili Band do not feature in this year's competition so a new winner will be announced. Who will that be? Find out on tonight's Ceili House.

Three of the great Ceili Bands feature on tonight's Ceili House, the Kilfenora, the Ennis and the Tain, all three-in-a-row winners at the Fleadh. They came together at this years fleadh in Clonmel for one memorable night.

A new group on the traditional scene is the Border Collies from Sligo. They won the coveted "Comhraigh Ceol" at the National Concert Hall in Dublin in February of this year and since have made a debut CD and toured extensively. Tonight's Ceili House features the Border Collies at Spellman's in Ballaghadereen Co. Roscommon. An entertaining night of music, song and chat.

Dublin accordeon player James Keane, based in New York returned for a vacation in October. A group of his friends got together for a memorable homecoming concert in Liberty Hall in Dublin. Tonight's Ceili House is the first of two from the Homecoming with James Keane on accordeon, Paul Brady, Kevin Coneff of the Chieftains, the O'Connor family and many more..

On a recent programme the Kilfenora Ceili Band, The Ennis Ceili Band and the Tain played at St. Olivers Church in Clonmel. On tonights programme the three bands play together on what was one of the highlights at this years Fleadh in Clonmel.

A Special Christmas Day programme recorded in Studio 1 in the RTE Radio Centre , Dublin featuring the All Ireland Ceili Band Champions of 2004, the Naomh Padraig Ceili Band from Co. Meath and the new sensation in Irish traditional music, the all female group "The Bridies".
