All of us dream of adventure, and some brave souls actually go out in search of it - hunting down rare plants in the Yangtze, cycling to South Africa, canoeing around Skellig Michael, learning naked yoga in New York, pavement painting in Tokyo, practising pilgrimage in desert monasteries, doing ballet crash-courses in Longford farms, converting tribes in the Amazon...

The Big Adventure seeks out dreamers and adventurers to hear their stories - their precarious feats, foolish obsessions, far-fetched flights of fancy and oddball accomplishments.

Manchán's new travel book is a rollercoaster ride through the mad masala of modern India, a culture pole-vaulting from the middle ages to the future.  A true story of deluded maharajahs, murderous environmentalists, sex-obsessed yogis, and bizarre high-society belles. It stretches from women throwing themselves on funeral pyres in the deserts of Rajasthan, to mind-reading children in Himalayan forests and devious missionaries on the shores on the Ganges.
