20 September 2010: Minister Mary Hanafin, and the Dictionary of Living Irish Artists

Listen Back "I'll be fighting the case, and I'll be fighting it very strongly, for the arts and its economic value. Of course I don't want to see any cuts, but there have to be some cuts in the Department, and my aim is to minimise that."
Ahead of Budget 2011, Culture, Tourism and Sport Minister Mary Hanafin talks to Vincent Woods in an in-depth and wide-ranging interview on her arts policy.

Also, Robert O'Byrne on his new Dictionary of Living Irish Artists (Plurabelle), already, perhaps inevitably, attracting controversy over the names not included in the book. Robert discusses the aims of the book, the audience for Irish art it hopes to reach, and his perspective on the current state of visual art in Ireland.

And Vincent, Robert and writer Maurice Walsh mark the life and work of one of the book's featured artists, Mexico-based Phil Kelly, who died last month.
