Listen Back On tonight's programme we mark the centenary of the birth of the poet Máirtín Ó Direáin and we look at the writings of Galician writer Manuel Rivas.

Ó Direáin- Vincent is joined by Eoghan Ó hAnluain who is a former senior lecturer in Irish in UCD and who edited the collected poems of Máirtín Ó Direáin in 1980. He has also written introductions for a new cd and book of Ó Direáin’s poems which have been issued to mark the centenary of the poet’s birth.

The cd of the poet reading his poems is called 'Máirtín Ó Direáin- Dánta' and is available on Gael Linn records.
The new book is called 'Máirtín Ó Direáin- Na dánta' is published by Cló Iar Chonnachta and is available at www.cic.ie.
The translations of Ó Direáin's poems used in the programme were done by Douglas Sealy and Tomás Mac Síomóin and are available in their book, 'Selected Poems- Tacar Dánta', published by The Goldsmith Press.

Manuel Rivas, 'Books Burn Badly' .
Jonathan Dunne is the English language translator of 'Books Burn Badly' by Galician author Manuel Rivas. He talks to Vincent Woods about Manuel Rivas and about this new book.
