Arts Tonight 20 June 2011: The Johnstons reunite
On this evening’s Arts Tonight, the influential 1960s folk/close harmony group the Johnstons. Paul Brady, Lucy and Michael Johnston and Mick Moloney are joined by singer Niamh Parsons ahead of their reunion concert at the TLT in Drogheda this Saturday, 25 June 2011, in memory of Lucy and Michael’s sister Adrienne, who died tragically 30 years ago and is pictured second from left, with Paul Brady on left, Mick Moloney third from left, and Lucy Johnston, right.
Other voices on the programme are music journalist
Colin Irwin, singers Mary MacPartlan, who sings a little of her own version of The Travelling People, and Charlie McGettigan, who sings an extract from Dublin Jack of All Trades, and writer Colm Toibin, all admirers in different ways of the music of the Johnstons.
