    An in-depth examination of the arts in Ireland today.

    Peggy Seeger – a life in music and song.

    Peggy Seeger is one of the outstanding figures in world folk music, a singer who carries a wealth of tradition and who has helped to both renew and challenge that tradition; an outstanding musician who makes string and ivory sing clear and true; and a songwriter who has written and writes memorable songs of love, hope and political passion.

    I had seen Peggy Seeger in concert many times and spoke to her briefly on this programme some months ago after the death of her brother, Pete Seeger. Her own story is rich and remarkable;

    I met Peggy Seeger recently at her home in Oxford and we spoke of music and song and much more… Beginning with her earliest memories of making music and song…

    Below is a full version of the interview with Peggy Seeger.
