New Planet Cabaret - Can you design the cover?

On 4th December Arena together with New Island Press launched the first on-air creative writing course entitled New Planet Cabaret. Writer and Creative Writing Teacher Dave Lordan co-ordinated the course.

The chosen pieces of work will appear in the book 'New Planet Cabaret' which will be Published by New Island later this year.

Arena are looking for a creative genius to design the cover of the book 'New Planet Cabaret'.

On Thursday June 6th Eoin Purcell of New Island books gave some tips the help budding designers with their design of the book cover.

Eoin Purcell encouraged the use of colour and experimentation and invited designers to send in a JPEG with a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch. Ideally the image should be 135mm wide by 215mm high. The deadline is MONDAY JUNE 24th 2013 and entries should be e-mailed in JPEG form to arena@rte.ie.

The 3 key things that need to be included on the cover are:

    Title - 'New Planet Cabaret'

    Editor - Dave Lordan

Arena has to be mentioned on the cover

For the graphics, Dave Lordan encourages budding designers to think of a new planet ruled by artists with perhaps a map of this imagined planet. He also prompted a scene from a planet ruled by artists to fit in with the title 'New Planet Cabaret'. Dave also encourages the use of colour to reflect what's inside the book.

The proceeds of the book 'New Planet Cabaret' will go to support emerging writers.
