Waterford Tall Ships
RTÉ made radio waves at the Tall Ships Race 2011 as a fleet of programmes from RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ lyric fm and RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta broadcast live from Waterford Quay.
From Thursday afternoon in the Viking City, the RTÉ Marquee located on Meagher's Quay played host to a variety of programmes that entertained, informed and inspired: from lyric fm's Lunchtime Classics and Radio 1's John Murray Show to 2fm's Weekenders with Ruth and Paddy and RTÉ RnaG's An Saol Ó Dheas, RTÉ radio brought something to cater for every audience member.
The infamous RTÉ Roadcaster was moored quayside too; Tall Ships visitors heard the familiar tones of Ronan Collins, Hector, Ruth Scott and Paddy McKenna rising from the instantly recognisable mobile studio in real time.
Derek Mooney also presented a very special edition of Wild Friday live aboard one the Lord Nelson, which was moored opposite the RTÉ Marquee.
