Medium Wave crew event in Tullamore
Ana Leddy, Head of RTÉ Radio 1, and JP Coakley, Radio Head of Operations, joined by Ray Maguire of RTÉ NL, took a trip down to the MW transmitter site in Tullamore the week before it closed. They met up with the Midlands Crew. Here are some pictures:

RTÉ’s network crew, pictured at the MW transmitter in Ballycotton, celebrating 82 years of the RTÉ Radio 1 Medium Wave service. The antenna, a 290 metre tall guyed mast, is the 2nd tallest antenna in Ireland. RTÉ Radio 1 ceased Medium Wave broadcasts from this transmitter on Monday, 24 March. RTÉ Radio 1 continues to broadcast as usual on FM and LW 252. |
