Last Stop
Tonight we ride the last Train. I can never thank you enough for the kind words which have been said, written, e-mailed, whistled and sung over the last number of weeks. It is very much appreciated - more than you'll ever know.

Thanks too for listening down the years. It was an honour to work for Radio 1 and a privilege to drive the Train. Your letters and e-mails have convinced me, among other things, that it was never a Train in vain.

Thanks so much - and keep the faith.

Last stop Donnybrook. Everybody off.

John

The Mystery Train Dining Car Cabaret Band
The Dublin Guitar Quartet
Just in to the Mystery Train Dining Car for the next 5 Tuesdays, The Dublin Guitar Quartet have been making waves in all the right circles for a while now. This Fab Four have also been getting all the right noises since their debut album -Deleted Pieces - hit the streets.

While in the Dining Car, the Quartet will be showing their customary disregard for the conventional guitar programme as they perform works by, among others, Philip Glass and The Redneck Manifesto.

They also plug in - SHOCK HORROR - and boldly go where no guitar quartet has gone before...

So for newer-than-new sounds from older-than-old instruments - The Dublin Guitar Quartet, on the Mystery Train - for 5 Tuesdays - starting Tuesday 23 May!

The First Time
Soon to be "First Time"-er Amy Allison with John Kelly

The First Time is just that - A Famous (or soon to be famous!) Person tells us about a piece of music that has stayed with them since that first time they heard it... Maybe they fell in or out of love, turned on to music, or just became besotted with a voice.

The Mystery Train carriage staff also hit the Other Voices festival in Dingle and we have a truck-load of First Times which we'll lash out on the next few months". The First Time" on the Mystery Train Monday nights.

Horslips

performances from Bell X1, Laura Cantrell, Vivienne Long, The Walls, Martha Wainwright, Rufus Wainwright, Pinky, Humanzi, José González, The Waterboys, Stephen Fretwell and a host of others.
