During last Saturday's show (18th March 2006), we were again speaking about birds hovering and I mentioned hummingbirds. They are my favourite family of birds and here are some shots I took of hummingbirds in Ecuador. These are the real 'hovering' birds in the world. There are over 300 species in the world and they are all found in the 'Americas'. As well as being beautiful, many of them have great names. The best named bird in the world (in my opinion) is a hummingbird called a Shining Sunbeam!
