John Sheehy from Dublin sent us in this photo - "...a possible Corn Bunting, which are not supposed to be resident in Ireland - perhaps it came over from Scotland."
In fact, the bird is a winter/immature Reed Bunting which is a resident bird in Ireland. The bill is too small and the head markings too strong for a Corn Bunting. Added to that is the chestnut colour on the wings which is a classic Reed Bunting feature.
