Eric Dempsey sent in this shot of a very rare bird... its an immature Night Heron, which is more at home in the Mediterranean than Ireland. It is, as the name suggests, a nocturnal heron and he photographed it near Tacumshin in Wexford. Its a young bird... adults have a pure black crown.
