White Tailed Eagles Reintroduced Into Ireland

On Monday, June 18th 2007, White-Tailed or Sea Eagles made their first appearance in Ireland in over 100 years. A total of 15 young birds landed at Kerry airport, courtesy of an Air France-CityJet-sponsored flight direct from Trondheim, Norway, accompanied by our own Terry Flanagan (the only reporter to travel with the birds). In Trondheim, Terry spoke with Dr. Allan Mee, Project Manager for the Reintroduction (pictured below with one of the eagle chicks).

Photo (by Valerie O'Sullivan) shows one of the released birds - No. 6 or "Ger" as he is affectionately known as.
