Entrants must be residents of the island of Ireland.
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
Each individual performance may only be entered in one category and only once into that category.
Entrants may only enter in two categories as a solo/duet performer in one category and as part of a group in a different category. The same performer cannot enter twice in the same category.
The Classical Solo category is for Solo Performer Instrumental (acoustic instrument) or solo performer voice with a performance of standard core Classical repertoire. Performers should bring their own accompanist.
Disqualification may occur if the submission requirements are not fulfilled.
Once submitted, entries remain the property RAAP / RTÉ and cannot be withdrawn.
Proof of performance may be required.
Audio submissions must not exceed eight minutes in total.
Audio submissions must be accompanied by a written submission.
If you wish to submit more than one piece, the second and consecutive pieces should be uploaded as one file and the TOTAL duration for all pieces must not exceed eight minutes.
Entries longer than eight minutes will be deemed ineligible.
Written submissions should include a biography not exceeding 100 words and a pitch not exceeding 250 words.
Please ensure that any material posted is available for public performance. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that they have legal rights to the performance and have cleared any rights relating to the music performed.
Entries must be online and be completed no later than 4pm on Thursday 16th August 2012. Late entries will not be accepted.
You are required to keep a copy of the master tape from which your musical entry is taken as the judges may ask for it. Failure to supply this information on request may result in disqualification.
The sponsors, organising committee and judging panel will not be held accountable for the failure of any judge or judges to follow the judging instructions issued to them.
All short listed entrants must be available on Monday 17, Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 September to play live on RTÉ Radio.
All short listed entrants must be available to perform in a special live programme in a live concert format from 8.30pm to 10.00pm on Thursday 20 September 2012.
To facilitate this all short listed entrants must be available to attend RTÉ on Thursday 20 September from scheduled times between 10.00am to 6pm for sound checks.
RTÉ will have full and final editorial decision as to which entry plays on which radio channel and through which radio shows.
The performing finalists can bring extra musicians/accompanists to accompany their performance but RTÉ /RAAP cannot cover that cost.
The four winners will be announced on the night of the concert (Thursday 20 September).
Highlights from the concert may be played on RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ lyric fm and RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.
Four winner’s prizes of €5,000 will be awarded.
Nine runner up prizes of €500 will be awarded.
The organising committee may, at its sole discretion, decide to use any entry or entries in the public domain (broadcasting for example), for the purpose of promoting the RAAP | RTÉ Breakthrough Bursary.
Entrants agree to the use of their entries – or any part of them – for this purpose and waive any claim they may have to remuneration.
Entrants agree to the streaming of their work online.
The decision of the judges is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
Submitting an entry to RAAP | RTÉ Breakthrough Bursary 2012 is deemed to confirm your acceptance of all the terms and conditions that apply.
