RTÉ Radio Worldwide

Africa and the Middle East are served by Internet 24 hours daily and also for four hours by satellite, and for one hour on shortwave.

Since 17th March 2009 we are pleased to announce a new shortwave service serving Central and Southern Africa. The transmissions are on 5840 kHz and are broadcast each weekday between 1930 and 2030 UTC. They include selected editions of popular RTÉ programmes.

Worldspace Afristar satellite: Provides a variety of RTE Radio programmes direct to your home via WRN channel 627, a new system of receiving radio.

You will need a Worldspace Receiver to hear the programmes. Those radios are becoming widely available. Information on models and suppliers available from www.worldspace.com. At present receivers cost about €170.
