Episode 17 – Tuesday, 29 April 8.30pm
The three finalists will learn about the best of South African ingredients at The Tasting Room (Top 50 Restaurants in the World), South Africa’s most lauded fine dining restaurant. Head Chef, Margot Janse, will introduce them to new ingredients and tastes. She will create a dish using the ingredients of the day. They will then be set the task of creating their own fine dining dish, using the South African ingredients that have just discover. They should be inspired by Margot’s philosophy. This dish will then be tasted by Nick, Dylan and Margot.
Episode 18 – Wednesday, 30 April 8.30pm
The following day they will return to Cape Town where they will join Luke Dale Roberts and his team. The Test Kitchen, as its name implies, affords Luke and his team the opportunity for maximum innovation and creativity with flavours and ingredients. Luke and his team will introduce the three finalists to three Test Kitchen dishes. They will then be set the ‘test’ of incorporating their own element to this dish. The ‘new’ dish will appear on the Test Kitchen Menu that night, and the three finalists will he responsible for their dish during dinner service. Nick and Dylan, and three South African restaurant critics will dine in the restaurant that night, together with paying customers.
