In this brand new television series presented by Ivan Minnock, the ‘Shakedown the Town’ command base will roll into a different town each week. Two local families will compete against each other to track down four combination codes hidden around the town and use them to unlock a safe.
In the game, the parents must complete four challenges to find the safe code numbers. Meanwhile, the young controllers are based on the ‘Shakedown’ bus deciphering the codes to direct the parents around town and help them complete the challenges.
This week we’re shaking down Carrickmacross Co. Monaghan. It’s the Corr/Loughman family V’s The Daly Family.
GREEN TEAM: The Corr/Loughman Family.
Adults: Blaithin Corr & Pauline Loughman (Friends and neighbours).
Young Team Members: Laura Corr (13), Sarah Corr (11), Aine Loughman (11).
YELLOW TEAM: The Daly/Clarke Family: (Mother & Sister in law).
Adults: Ann Daly & Joann Clarke.
Young Team Members: Shauna Daly (12), Leann Daly (10), Hayley Clarke (10).
In the biggest treasure hunt ever, the 2 teams are competing against each other to track down the 4 combination numbers hidden around the town and crack the safe code to take the winner’s title. The young controllers are based on the ‘Shakedown’ bus deciphering the clues while the adults race around town and complete the 4 challenges to get the 4 numbers.
Green and Yellow teams will firstly tackle the House of cards challenge. Only when they have completed the tower of cards will the laser beam activate and identify the canister with the first safe combination number. Can the Mum’s steady hands win through?
Next up it’s off to the boxing club where Ireland’s only female professional boxer, Christina McMahon will guide them through the art of typing on a keyboard while wearing boxing gloves.
The third challenge will test their shooting skills. Having to shoot a sequence of moving targets will push the parents to their limits!
For their final challenge, all 4 mums will take to the foam pool to search for the coloured keys to open a row of padlocked tents. Only one tent contains the final combination number. To reach the foam pool they must first climb the slippery slide. It’s a messy finish in Carrickmacross but the mums do their teams proud.
