Each week an opera, a story, a glimpse into the lives of the characters, both real and imaginary, who have shaped the form as we know it today.

“He who does not have proper prayer, is the poorest of all, even if he sits on a royal throne” said St John Chrysostom.

Tales from the Opera charts the swift rise and fall of Boris Godunov, the nobleman who usurped the throne of Russia. Valery Gergiev conducts the Kirov Opera in the 1872 retelling of Mussorgsky’s masterpiece.
