Tunisian born Anouar Brahem, oud player and composer, creates a unique soundscape.
Over a twenty year association with ECM records, he has released a dozen albums with various collaborators producing music that displays a contemporary meeting of East and West.
Collaborators include Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek, bassist Dave Holland, reedman John Surman, and accordionist Jean Louis Matinier.
Most recently his ensemble includes Bass Clarinettist Klaus Gesing.
On Blue this week, we’ll blur the lines between East and West; between classical and contemporary; between folk and jazz as Carl and Eamonn shine the spotlight on the ECM repertoire of Anouar Brahem.
