RTE STREAMS LIVE FROM DUBLIN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION FINAL AT THE NATIONAL CONCERT HALL, MAY 15TH.

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Dublin International Piano Competition, RTÉ will be streaming the final of the competition live from the National Concert Hall next Tuesday, May 15th at 7pm on www.rte.ie.

For anyone who loves their music, the Piano competition is always a pleasure. Since the inaugural Dublin International Piano Competition in 1988, it has ranked in the top five piano competitions in the world and attracts the brightest and best young pianists from all over the globe.

So, for anyone who wants to sit back and enjoy a sublime evening of classical music, RTÉ has made the final available to view online in HD and in full stereo sound. Just go to www.rte.ie/tv/piano next Tuesday – the stream begins at 7pm sharp. Please note that this web-page will not be operational until Tuesday, May 15th. This live stream will also be available on the RTÉ Player for 21 days after the final. RTÉ Lyric FM will also broadcast live from the competition.

Both RTÉ and the Piano Competition are hugely excited to be able to host the competition in this way, for the very first time, to Irish and international audiences alike. The stream will not be geo-blocked to the island of Ireland but available to an audience worldwide – so past and future competitors and classical music aficionados at home and abroad can enjoy it for free.

The Dublin International Piano Competition is adjudicated by illustrious international members of the music profession, chaired by John O’Conor. Four gifted finalists will compete in the grand final on Tuesday, May 15th for the acclaimed title with concerto performances supported by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of James Cavanagh.

The finalists are: Alexander Bernstein, Nikolay Khozyainov, Andrejs Osokins and Jiayan Sun.

The winner of this year’s competition will be offered a number of prestigious international engagements, including debut recitals at Carnegie Hall, NYC and the Wigmore Hall, London.
