RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet February

The RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet February tour will visit Cork, Shannonbridge, Navan, Dublin and Kilkenny. Mozart's string quartet No. 16 is full of charm, elegances and wit. It's the third of the Haydn Quartets, a set of six string quartets he wrote during his first few years in Vienna in honor of the composer Franz Joseph Haydn. Shostakovih's string quartet No. 7 takes you on a musical journey that is brimming with his unmistakable style. Completing the programme is the dramatic first quartet from Beethoven's popular Razumovsky quartets.

New Music - RTÉ Heaney at 70

As part of the RTÉ Heaney At 70 celebrations, RTÉ Performing Groups commissioned Rachel Holstead, Kevin O'Connell and Ian Wilson to write short pieces for the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet in response to Seamus Heaney's work. The pieces were premiered on Easter Monday with Seamus Heaney introducing each piece by reading the poem that inspired it. The concert, presented by John Kelly, was transmitted live on RTÉ lyric fm as part of Classic Drive. Listen online to the recording of the performance here.
